My computer came from the factory with an Intel Core 2 Duo CPU E6420 @ 2.13GHz, L2 4MB, FSB 1066MHz, LGA775.
This motherboard will NOT upgrade to E6800 @ 3.33GHz (with other specs same as above), even though the motherboard specs say "any E6x00 series").

This is the link to my motherboard, although the chip is not listed on the compatability, the info could be old and I have read on areas that it will fit. I mean, they are on 2 different "similar" called lists. Hi, I recently aquired a Sapphire Radeon R7 265 video card.
But I do not want to risk buying one incase it does not. Kind Regards Rampage II Extreme does support xeon but i would recommend updating the bios to 2101 asus doesnt list xeon on there website becuse it is a gaming motherboard and they want people to purchase there workstation/server motherboards for xeon to get you to pay the extra but the Rampage II Extreme does support xeon there is no difference between i7 and xeon cpus however the xeons clock better normally and run cooler the the i7s normally do do would recommend getting which ever is cheaper i7-2820QM or i7-2860QM would be the fastest cpus supported by the hm65 chipset both cpus have an 8mb cache making them faster then the stock cpu which i believe is the i7-2630QM but they arnt a huge upgrade from the stock cpu and are not really worth the upgrade unless you can find them for cheap I have a laptop, A8SC-A1. Works fine but I think my processor is not really fast enough to exploit the video card's entire power.
I reverted back to Vista just to update the BIOS but I was putting in a new SSD drive anyway.
The ASUS P5LP-LE motherboard came with the HP Pavillion a1740n Desktop PC that I purchased in 2006.
Sorry for being a noob, I thought I can upgrade to any 775 socket processor :-( i am using HCL desktop.
You can find the bord by searching for it on google. 945G Express chipset with Integrated Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 950 and high-definition audio with Realtek 2-channel ALC260 codec Hi I'm sorry you have no foxconn page for me to go to.
I am looking to upgrade the above m/b processor to an intel dual core, I have some old paperwork that says it will, but which ones will it take?
I have tried it -- the computer powered on, the CD/DVD drives opened and closed, but the computer would not boot up and the hard drives would not spin, and the screen received no video input.
I was able to update to the latest available Bios ver 5.23 from HP web site, but the loader is only available in Windows Vista flavor and will not install on Window 7.
