Aransas County Independent School District has canceled school indefinitely in light of a formal assessment of damage caused by the hurricane, according to a post on the district's official Facebook page.
Superintendent Joseph Patek urged parents to enroll their children in the district to which they relocated.
A recovery company has spent the last few days evaluating each school building.
School district staff will be compensated while work continues to get the schools open, Mircovich said.
